WiFi QR Code Tester

Drop in a photo of a WiFi QR code and see which network it opens, how it is secured and whether it is marked hidden. The image never leaves your device.

Try a sample

Decoding happens in your browser only. We do not upload your image and we do not store network names or passwords.

Result

Choose an image, start the camera or run a sample. The decoded network details appear here.

Treat any code you scan as readable credentials. If someone else can see it, they can join that network.

Not scanning?

Most codes that fail are too small, too low in contrast, or encoded with the wrong security type.

How the tester reads a code

A WiFi QR code holds a short text string that starts with WIFI: and then lists the security type, the network name and the password. The tester decodes the image and splits those fields, so you can confirm that a sign someone gave you points at the network you expect.

Use it when you inherit a sign from a previous owner, when you want to check a code before printing it, or when a guest says the code will not connect. Need to build or fix one? Start with the WiFi QR Code Generator, then print it with the sign maker, or work through the WiFi QR code troubleshooting guide.

Frequently Asked Questions

No. The image is read in your browser and decoded with a library that runs locally. Nothing is sent to any server and nothing is stored.

Because a WiFi QR code contains the password in a readable form. The tester keeps it hidden until you choose to reveal it, so a code left open on screen does not expose the network.

The tester reports that it is a different kind of QR code and shows the decoded text instead, so you still learn what it points to.
